Which Model MacBook Air Do I Have?

Modified on Thu, 29 Jul, 2021 at 12:51 PM

Students at Trinity have one of three different models of MacBook Air computers. This guide will help you determine if you have the oldest model (A1466), the newer model (A2179), or the newest model (A2337).

Look at the ports on the sides of the computer. The a1466 model has 3 ports (MagSafe, USB, headphone jack) on the left side and 3 ports (Thunderbolt, USB, SD Card) on the right side. The A2179 and A2337 models have 2 ports (2 USB-C) on the left side and 1 port (headphone jack) on the right side. To determine if you have an A2179 or A2337, click on the Apple logo on the top left, select About This Mac, then look at the listed CPU. If the listed CPU is an Intel chip, then you have an A2179. If the listed CPU is an Apple M1 chip, then you have an A2337.
