MacBook Not Charging

If your computer is not charging, try performing an SMC Reset

A common issue with MacBook Airs is the battery icon is not displaying on the top bar. In most cases, the fans will also be running at full speed non-stop. These issues will usually be fixed with an SMC Reset.

If your computer is still not charging after an SMC Reset, try to find another charger and see if your computer will charge with the other charger. If it does charge, then your charger is most likely broken. If you have an older model MacBook Air with a MagSafe connector, you will need to buy an authentic Apple charger as a replacement. You can buy them at Best Buy and Amazon, among other places. If you have a newer model MacBook Air with a USB-C connector, you can charge your computer using any USB-C cable.

If you cannot locate another charger to test with, we still recommend buying a new charger in case your charger is broken. There is a chance that the issue is with your computer and not the charger, in which case the new charger will not work either. You should save the receipt if that is the case so you can return the new charger.

If you try to charge your computer with two different chargers and neither of them work, stop by the Tech Office or email [email protected] for further assistance.
