Using Google Takeout

If you will be departing from Trinity you may want to take all the content that you have created under your Trinity Gmail login with you. The easiest way to do this is to create a new personal Gmail account (ie. [email protected]) and download out all of the content in your current school drive (ie. [email protected]) to the new account.

To do this you can use Google Takeout to easily transfer your content. Navigate to the website https://takeout.google.com/transfer. This will open up a ‘Transfer your Content’ page like the one pictured below under #1.

1) You will need to create a personal Google account and then enter the email address associated with your personal Google account. This is the account that will receive your transferred content. If you do not already have a personal Google account, click the blue link titled ‘CREATE ACCOUNT” to make a new account. Click ‘SEND CODE’ and then check your personal Gmail inbox to verify your account.

2) The new account you specified in step one will receive an email from Google similar to the one below. Inside that email, click ‘GET CONFIRMATION CODE.’ The code is only valid for 24 hours, so make sure to check your new email and verify your account.

3) You will be taken to a page that has a unique code. Copy this code or write it down so that you are ready for the next step.

4) Return to the ‘TRANSFER YOUR CONTENT’ tab and paste your code into the box. Click ‘VERIFY’

5) Select whether you want to transfer just your Google Drive, just your emails, or both. Click ‘START TRANSFER.’

The copy process may take a few hours. When the files are finished copying, you will get an email at your Gmail address.

Here is some additional information for transferring content from your school Drive account to another account.

Please email [email protected] if you have any questions about this process or need additional support.
