Using Presenter View in Google Slides

Modified on Fri, 3 Dec, 2021 at 11:17 AM

If you are presenting a Google Slides presentation and your computer is connected to a projector, you can use your computer's screen to view notes and to ask questions.

Using Presenter View

To access Presenter view, click on the down arrow next to the Slideshow button on the top right of Google Slides, then select "Presenter view".

Your presentation will be displayed, and a new presenter view window will be opened. If your presentation does not display in full screen (i.e. the Chrome window is still visible), select the window with the presentation, then press Command + Shift + F to enter full screen mode.

This is the presenter view window:

The top left has a timer that lets you track how long you have been presenting. The timer can be paused and reset as necessary. By default, your speaker notes for each slide are shown on the right side of the window. You can use the arrow keys or a clicker to change slides like normal.

Audience Q&A

If you want to have the audience ask you questions electronically, you can click on the Audience Tools tab, then click "Start new".

A link will then appear in both presenter view and the slideshow, which audience members can go to on their phones or computers to submit questions. By default, only people with Trinity accounts can submit questions, but you can allow anyone to submit questions by clicking on the "Accepting questions from" dropdown and choosing "Anyone".

When an audience member asks a question, it will appear in the presenter view window. Audience members can choose whether or not they want to be anonymous. Other audience members can also see the question on their devices, and can upvote or downvote the question if they like or dislike it.

If you want to answer a question, you can click the "Present" button next to a question, and the question will appear in the slideshow.

When you are finished with the Audience Q&A, you can use the on/off toggle in the presenter view window to turn the Q&A off. You can also turn it back on later if you want to, either using the same link or a new one.
