Archiving and Copying Classes from Previous Years in Google Classroom

Archiving a Class

You can archive a class once it has finished. Students can view archived classes, but cannot make any changes or turn in any assignments. This does not affect the student's ability to access class files in Drive.

To archive a class, on the Google Classroom homepage, click on the three dots icon on the top right of a class, then select "Archive".

Duplicating a Class

You can copy an entire class and it will save your previous year’s assignments and posts as drafts and will organize them under the same topics over as well. Just change the due dates and you are ready to go for the new year! Copying classes is also useful when making multiple sections of the same class, as you can enter the initial announcements and topics in one section, and then copy the class for the other sections.

To copy a class, on the Google Classroom homepage, click on the three dots icon on the top right of a class, then select "Copy".
